Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to operate the steam chambers and enable the steam treatment of our products before shipping to customers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and closely monitor and maintain all equipment related to the steam chambers. This includes but is not limited to the chamber itself vacuum pumps oil separation tanks heat exchanger boiler air compressor and the safety monitoring equipment associated with this process.
- Clean all of the above noted equipment. Under direction of supervisor coordinate with outside vendors to provide assistance in testing and maintaining equipment where and when it is necessary.
- Complete maintain and properly store all reports checklists files and logs related to the operation of the Steam Chambers and all safety equipment related to their use.
- Under the guidelines set by Quality Control and according to Good Manufacturing Practices pull post-sterilization product samples and provide them to appropriate laboratory personnel.
- Maintain nutritional supplement Good Manufacturing Practices adhering to the standards set for sanitation personal hygiene product and personal safety.
- Conduct cleaning tasks around the facility in conjunction with normal cleaning duties associated with steam work area.
- Close packaging for storage using proper GMP and SOP guidelines after proper cooling of product. Unload store and monitor packaging items
- Follow directions regarding safety and quality of food products during manufacturing and storage
- Report any deviations of food safety or quality to immediate supervisor
PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to Sterilization Lead secondarily to the Production Supervisors and indirectly to the Operations Manager.
REQURIEMENTS:
- English language skills necessary to read understand and fill out production related documents
- Ability to understand the basic mechanics and operations of the steam equipment
- Complete understanding of the safety requirements necessary to perform the job including the use of personal protective equipment and other safety related equipment
- At least 90 days of on-the-job training under the guidance of experienced Steam Associates Maintenance Supervisor Production Supervisors or Operations Manager.
- Current forklift operators certification or ability to obtain one with 2 years on the job experience as a forklift operator
- Current California Drivers License
- Physical requirements:
- Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; and use hands to finger handle feel or operate objects tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to stand walk or sit for prolonged periods of time. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; and talk or hear
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
