Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

The fundamental reason thisclassification exists is to support the efforts of local libraries primarily inthe areas of childrens materials and assistant management of branches. Primary work responsibilities may include:performing circulation duties; creating and implementing programs and events; servingpatrons and the public; performing collection maintenance assisting in themanagement of a facility; and performing a variety of library-relatedduties. The Librarian I classificationindirectly supervises employees and may serve as supervisors in the absence ofa supervisory librarian; however they do not have final supervisoryauthority. The Librarian I classificationdiffers from the Library Assistant classification series in that Librarian Iincumbents are more involved in the management of an assigned facility. The Librarian I classification differs fromthe Librarian II classification in that the Librarian II incumbents serve astechnical experts in a specific library discipline. The Librarian I classification is typicallysupervised by a Librarian II III or IV.
Bachelors degree in Elementary Education English ComputerScience Library Science or a closely related degree and one year of experienceperforming technical library work such as circulation and collectionmaintenance. A Masters degree from anaccredited program in librarianship or school library media may be substitutedfor the required experience.
