POSITION SUMMARY

The Knowledge Broker is responsible for building and enhancing the capacity of BORN Ontario to make positive and lasting contributions to the health of pregnant individuals newborns children and the citizens of Ontario. How does BORN Ontario influence care By being the authoritative source for maternal-child health care data in the province. High-quality data is an indispensable asset in todays health care economy. BORN Ontario works behind the scenes equipping health care providers and organizations with the data they need to provide quality care for families. Insights developed by BORN Ontario help administrators make more informed health care policy decisions.

This role focuses on translating and applying registry data into actionable knowledge for healthcare providers administrators policymakers researchers and individuals and families. The knowledge broker acts as a bridge between evidence and implementation promoting data-driven decision-making in maternal and child health services.

The knowledge broker will have content expertise in the maternal-newborn and child sectors in at least two of the following three areas: 1) implementation science 2) dissemination or 3) evaluation/outcomes measurement. The knowledge broker will apply their expertise to facilitate the active use of current evidence and to broker strong supportive relationships among BORNs diverse partners across Ontario. The knowledge broker will possess skills in communication team building networking and relationship-building facilitation and negotiation and project management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with key program staff and leaders of agencies to identify strengths challenges and areas for growth to strengthen and improve perinatal and child health programs and services
  • Integrate leading evidence on implementation science knowledge mobilization youth/family/community engagement and evaluation/outcome measurement to translate and share registry data and insights into user-friendly formats for a variety of audiences (e.g. healthcare professionals policy-makers researchers)
  • Support data partners in interpreting and using registry data for clinical improvement system planning and health equity initiatives
  • Work with BORNs Knowledge Translation Specialists to identify gaps that require the development of new knowledge translation supports and resources (to be developed by BORN or co-created with others)
  • Work with data analysts and epidemiologists to interpret data trends and identify opportunities for improvement and action
  • Conduct environmental scans literature reviews and evidence syntheses to support project planning and decision-making
  • Support key provincial or regional efforts communities of practice or networks relating to various perinatal and child health sector priorities
  • Act as liaison among different partners across the province to facilitate communication and help establish networks that build alignment with local and provincial efforts
  • Work with BORN staff and other organizations in the sector to organize knowledge exchange activities to promote partnerships and disseminate evidence-based practices or programs
  • Gather input from data partners to inform registry enhancements and KT products
  • Travel across the province as needed or required
  • Inform and/or lead the development of knowledge products tools and resources to support consultations educational activitiesand implementation support (e.g. presentations infographics reports dashboards and decision-support tools)
  • Maintain documentation of activities per BORN requirements
  • Participate in the development implementation and evaluation of BORNs programs and initiatives to respond to emerging needs of the sector and to strengthen or enhance BORNs programs
  • Support KT-related research and evaluation being conducted at BORN
  • Help to profile the work of BORN to external and internal partners
  • Support capacity building within BORN and with partners and students by providing guidance training and consultations on KT activities and use of BORN data
  • Exemplify and advance BORNs health equity journey to promote equity diversity inclusion justice and indigeneity within BORN its data holdings and its partner relations for the betterment of all pregnant and birthing individuals in Ontario
  • Participate in professional development and strategic planning as it relates to KT activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Criminal Record Check (Essential)
  • Masters degree in psychology social work education health or related field (Essential)
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience (Essential)
  • Strong knowledge in at least two of these three areas: 1) implementation science 2) dissemination or 3) evaluation/outcomes measurement (Essential)
  • Experience in the field of maternal-neonatal and child health (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a consultative model with demonstrated experience in working with diverse partners at frontline senior management community and provincial levels (Essential)
  • Demonstrated skills in group facilitation and adult education (Essential)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of internal and external partners including tact and adaptability (Essential)
  • Independent worker and self-directed learner (Essential)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (Essential)
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to meet timelines and deliverables and ability to manage competing priorities (Essential)
  • Availability to travel within Ontario and occasional national/international travel (Essential)
  • Bilingualism (French/English) (Preferred)

Des données de grande qualité constituent un atout indispensable dans léconomie actuelle des soins de santé. BORN Ontario travaille en coulisse pour fournir aux prestataires de soins de santé et aux organismes les données dont ils ont besoin pour offrir des soins de qualité aux familles. Les connaissances développées par BORN Ontario aident les .s à prendre des décisions stratégiques plus éclairées en matière de soins de santé.

Ce rôle consiste à traduire et à appliquer les données du registre en connaissances exploitables pour les prestataires de soins de santé les .s les décisionnaires politiques les .s les individus et les familles. La personne à ce poste sert de pont entre les données probantes et la mise en œuvre favorisant la prise de décisions fondées sur des données dans les services de santé maternelle et infantile.

Elle disposera dune expertise dans les secteurs des mères des nouveau-nés et des enfants dans au moins deux des trois domaines suivants: 1)la science de la mise en œuvre 2)la diffusion ou 3)lévaluation et la mesure des résultats. En outre la personne à ce poste appliquera son expertise pour faciliter lutilisation active des données probantes actuelles et établir des relations solides et solidaires avec les divers partenaires de BORN Ontario. Elle possède des compétences en communication en promotion du travail déquipe en réseautage ainsi quen établissement de relations en animation en négociation et en gestion de projets.
