The Senior Software Development Manager will lead the end-to-end software organization for Amazons Autonomous Vehicle (AV) charter driving the design development and deployment of scalable systems across autonomy perception planning teleoperations and cloud infrastructure. This role is responsible for building and managing high-performing teams across embedded and cloud software collaborating with hardware product and operations to deliver mission-critical AV capabilities. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong execution and organizational leadership to bring autonomous delivery vehicles to scale in the real world.
Key job responsibilities
The Senior Software Development Manager will be responsible for defining and executing the software roadmap across all components of the autonomous delivery stackincluding perception navigation planning safety systems edge compute remote operations simulation and cloud services. They will lead multiple engineering teams to architect scalable modular and safety-critical systems that power driverless delivery vehicles. This role includes setting technical direction ensuring rigorous software development practices managing cross-functional program dependencies and delivering production-ready solutions in collaboration with hardware product operations and policy teams. The manager will also own hiring mentoring and growing a high-caliber engineering team to meet the scale and complexity of the AV roadmap.
About the team
The Autonomous Vehicle Software team is a fast-moving cross-disciplinary group responsible for building the entire software stack that powers Amazons last-mile autonomous delivery systems. This includes onboard perception localization navigation planning and safety; edge compute and telemetry infrastructure; cloud-based mission management fleet orchestration simulation teleoperations and foundation model integration. The team collaborates closely with hardware engineering product and operations to deliver reliable scalable and intelligent autonomy systems. Engineers here solve some of the most complex technical challenges in robotics and AI working on production systems deployed across real-world environments.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $198100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $342300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
