Description

The Pittsburg State University Department of Psychology and Counseling ( is accepting applications for an Instructor of Clinical Psychology committed to high-quality teaching for a full-time non-tenure position. Position begins on August 10 2026 and will include undergraduate teaching graduate teaching and mentoring. The instructor will be supporting the Clinical Psychology Masters program which prepares masters-level practitioners to work in underserved areas. Specific courses will depend upon areas of expertise and/or experience but may include Personality Assessment: Adult Personality Assessment: Child Research Methods I and II and/or other courses as assigned. Scholarly activity in clinical psychology is desirable and service to the department college and university is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (based on need and expertise)
  • Mentorship of undergraduate students
  • Supervision of graduate students
  • Maintain active research agenda
  • Involvement in professional organizations
  • Service to the department college university and community
  • Commitment to student success
  • Participation in recruitment and retention efforts

Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience Time of Hire -

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology (ABD will be considered)
  • Licensed or license-eligible in Kansas

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology degree or related field. This degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge skills and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Supervision experience with graduate students
  • Clinical experience/practice
  • Supportive of masters level practitioners
  • Scholarly activity in clinical psychology
