Location:Austin TX 78701 (Hybrid Onsite & Telework)
Duration: 09/22/2025 to 08/31/2026
Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (excluding State holidays)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Security Analyst Intern to join our Security team in a hybrid capacity. This internship offers hands-on experience in incident response data protection and cybersecurity operations while working with experienced professionals and industry-standard tools such as CrowdStrike. The role is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Computer Science Information Security or related fields who want to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze security incidents:Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to investigate potential incidents determine root causes assess impact and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support incident response:Assist in containment evidence collection and forensic analysis as part of incident response plans.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments:Help identify system/application vulnerabilities and recommend remediation actions.
- Monitor security events:Review event logs alerts and reports to detect threats or unusual activity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders:Work with internal teams and external partners to implement security controls.
- Documentation & reporting:Draft incident reports SOPs and periodic updates on vulnerabilities risks and security posture.
- Research emerging threats:Stay current on cybersecurity trends tools and methodologies; contribute insights to enhance the teams capabilities.
Candidate Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Security or related field. (3 years academic progress)
- Proficiency in Python PowerShell or Bash scripting (2 years).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (2 years).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (2 years).
- Ability to work independently and in teams (2 years).
- Experience following organizational SOPs and approval processes (2 years).
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrated interest in data security incident response and threat intelligence.
- Familiarity with CrowdStrike or other cybersecurity tools.
- Self-motivatedwith eagerness to learn new technologies.
- Basic understanding of networking protocols operating systems and security concepts.
