Job Description
The Department of Psychology in the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences at Radford University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in School Psychology within our M.S./Ed.S. program starting in the Fall of 2026. Area of specialization is open. Responsibilities of this position include: 1) teaching graduate courses in our NASP Accredited school psychology program as well as serving as a mentor to graduate students in a program that is committed to training students in ecological-oriented comprehensive service delivery; 2) supervising assessment and intervention services provided by our graduate students within our practicum sequence 3) engaging in a productive and independent line of research; and 4) participating in program department college and university services addition assistant and associate duties may include teaching and mentoring undergraduate students within the psychology department.
Students in our 3-year school psychology program earn both an M.S. degree in Psychology and an Ed.S. degree in School Psychology. Unique aspects of our program include students completing a neurodevelopmental practicum in our clinic during the 1st year options for study abroad and earning competency certifications in areas such as PREPaRE ASIST executive function coaching ASD assessment and trauma-informed CBT. Our School Psychology program has been in existence since 1967 and became an Education Specialist program in Psychology Department also offers a large bachelors program; a masters with options in Experimental and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. The psychology faculty is committed to providing a supportive and collaborative environment for building a successful career.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications for the position include: 1) a doctoral degree in school psychology combined clinical or counseling and school psychology or educational psychology with specialization in school psychology from an APA-accredited and/or NASP-approved program (ABD applicants will also be considered; with degree to be obtained by August 10 2026) 2) evidence of potential for independent scholarship and 3) evidence of potential for effective teaching. Candidates should have completed the doctoral degree by the August 10th 2026 start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualification for the position include: 1) interest in teaching and expertise in systems level prevention and intervention academic and behavior intervention cognitive assessment school and clinic based practicum and research courses that may align with area of research expertise; 2) currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a school psychologist through the Virginia Board of Psychology; and 3) interest in collaboration with other faculty in the administrative oversight and training of students in our on-campus clinic including community outreach and clinical research/grant opportunities. For those applying for associate preference will be given to those who have interest in program level leadership responsibilities appropriate to their experiences.
