Clinical Laboratory Coordinator I

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Comprehensive management of client phone calls including skillful handling of complex medical inquiries requiring thorough assessment skills and knowledge of appropriate laboratory specimen testing requirements
  • Coordinating receiving process in partnership with administrative support team (i.e. FedEx UPS local couriers)
  • Receiving and accessioning of patient specimens including making initial aliquot tubes for splits
  • Triaging of testing in highly complex situations necessitating client communication
  • Review test requisitions for pertinent details regarding test orders prior to accessioning
  • Processing of paraffin block/slide returns
  • Performing laboratory support duties including filing specimen label making unpacking supplies collating/labeling slides or files for staff hematopathologists archiving scanning set up forms etc. with direction of the team lead supervisor and/or director
  • Support billing process including sharing and knowledge of CPT code with clients when necessary
  • Maintaining laboratory inventory and checking in laboratory supplies
  • Scan documents and paperwork for report finalization as required
  • Perform various aspects of the wet lab processes as permitted and as directed by assigned lead supervisor and/or director
  • Prepare and label reagents perform the appropriate quality control and document daily performance criteria of reagents and equipment
  • Full knowledge of and adherence to the laboratorys quality assurance policies including documentation of quality assurance activities
  • Quality management activities and responsibilities under direction of the designated lead
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
  • Aliquoting of specimens for sections as appropriate under the direction of lead supervisor and/or director to be adjusted to appropriate skill level and experience
  • Assist in managing study archives and associated laboratory and data entry responsibilities
  • Weekday shift Monday through Friday (will include Saturday rotations as scheduled with flex time off); Tentative shift hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (subject to change defined by assigned duties)


Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree in a chemical physical or biological science is preferred but not required. An Associate of Science degree and/or equivalent professional experience will be strongly considered
  • A strong fit for this position will be applicants who have an ability to provide a high level of attention to detail and demonstrates consistent excellence in organizational skills and time management.
  • Ability to complete tasks successfully and efficiently as delegated by Lead/Supervisor/Director
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory preferred
  • Works successfully in a team environment and independently
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Passion for supporting a team that provides high-quality and industry-leading diagnostic services as well as patient care

Full-time physical presence at our Seattle laboratory is an essential job function of this role.


Compensation & Benefits Package:

HematoLogics offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package which includes medical vision and dental insurance with 100% of monthly premiums paid by the company for employees and 50% of premiums paid for an employees spouse/partner/dependents. Long-term disability coverage is provided with 100% of monthly premiums paid for by the company. We offer up to 6% match at 6 months tenure and beyond for 401K contributions by the employee.


We offer 12 days of vacation (on an accrual basis) 10 days of sick time (front-loaded at the time of your start date) and 11 paid holidays.
