WB Academy /Comex lead

We are looking for a senior leader with WB business experience and a strong passion for Learning and Development to lead and grow the Wholesale Banking (WB) Academy and set the Comex agenda. You will be responsible for expanding the current setup into a high-performing team of eight dedicated professionals delivering impactful development offerings to all Wholesale Banking employees.

As the WB Academy /Comex Lead you will work closely with the WB Management Team to define and prioritize capability focus areas that support the delivery of the WB strategy and ensure a future-ready workforce. Your mission is to create a compelling learning offer that empowers our people to unlock their full potential stay relevant and confidently address todays and tomorrows strategic priorities.

This role is pivotal in enabling our employees to deliver superior client value from day-to-day financing needs to strategic boardroom advice. Positioned at the heart of ING Wholesale Bankings (commercial) strategy you will be expected to connect the dots across the business and drive tangible WB wide impact.

Role & Responsibilities

As the WB Academy /Comex Lead you hold global responsibility for shaping a compelling core development offering for all Wholesale Banking this role you are a member of the ING University Faculty and report hierarchically to the WB Chief Commercial Officer with a functional reporting line to the Global Head of Talent and Learning. This dual alignment ensures strong integration of both WB business priorities and INGs global learning strategy and delivery model. You collaborate closely with Business leads and other Academy leads to ensure full alignment across functions and domains on the learning offer.

You will bring together two teams the Commercial Excellence and the WB Business School building one shared development offering. Your ambition is to establish a strategically positioned impactful team that delivers personalized high-quality learning experiences to empower our employees and support the banks long-term success.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction & Capability Building: Define the overarching strategy for capability building and learning across Wholesale Banking (WB) and translate this into a concrete relevant learning offer that spans all products sectors and functional areas.
  • Collaboration Across Global Academies: Work closely with other global Academies to leverage existing learning solutions and ensure alignment and integration for WB functional employees.
  • Future-Ready Workforce: Develop a workforce that is equipped for todays challenges and prepared for tomorrows opportunities. This includes introducing innovative learning approaches that directly address strategic priorities commercial goals and business risks.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage and align with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including the WB Management Team ING University HR Procurement Compliance People Services Legal and external vendors to ensure seamless execution of learning initiatives in line with INGs global learning standards.
  • Leveraging ING WB Digital proposition: explore A.I. applications in ComEx Learning & Development within our internal and external stakeholder network
  • Scalable Learning Solutions: Identify and scale impactful learning offers from across countries by leveraging INGs content library digital learning vendors internal design capabilities and learning platforms and tools.
  • Commercial Excellence: leveraging our ComEx proposition to elevate commercial discussions with clients to boardroom advice. Taking our ComEx approach from paper to practice and further integrate this into Front Office (Sectors and products) Way-of-Working on concrete transactions. You are expected to continuously develop our ComEx proposition to remain industry leading.
  • People Leadership: Lead and inspire a high-performing WB Academy team of 8 professionals. Demonstrate a strong track record in guiding teams through transformation fostering engagement and building a culture of excellence.
  • Learning Experience Design: Deliver high-quality personalized learning experiences through the WB Academy. Ensure these are aligned with strategic capability priorities and provide ING professionals with opportunities to learn from and with peers subject matter experts and communities while embracing digital learning approaches to enhance accessibility scalability and impact.
  • Senior Leadership alignment on priorities and budget: Communicate effectively with senior leaders to align on learning priorities secure buy-in and obtain the annual learning budget.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Provide senior leadership with clear data-driven reporting on learning effectiveness outcomes and efficiency.
  • Operational Excellence: Partner with CPS to ensure end-to-end delivery of learning programs maintaining high standards in scheduling budgeting and resource management.
  • Budget management: Ensure learning investments are allocated to the most impactful and strategically aligned priorities.

How to succeed

We are looking for a candidate who is not just experienced but also driven by curiosity and a passion for continuous learning and improvement. The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated credibility and a strong track record in Wholesale Banking with deep understanding of the business its internal organization and external client dynamics with earning trust and credibility at senior management levels.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to drive change and foster collaboration within a complex matrixed organization.
  • Proven experience in leading high-performing teams including virtual and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and people development skills; a coaching qualification is considered a plus.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and inspire teams to reach higher levels of performance and impact.
  • Relevant academic background preferably a masters degree in educational sciences Business Administration or a related field.
  • Strong affinity with Talent and Leadership Development with the ability to translate business strategy into impactful learning solutions.
  • Solid understanding of HR concepts and their application within a Wholesale Banking context.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage globally across all WB functions to identify learning needs and align on strategic priorities.
  • Passion for innovative learning methodologies and technologies including digital learning and AI.
