POSITION SUMMARY


The Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) is accepting applications for an Accreditation Audits and Inspections Coordinator. Interested applicants are REQUIRED to complete an on-line application which is due by October 3 2025 at 5:00 pm. Once complete the applicant will receive an email from Guardian Alliance Technologies. The email will include a link and instructions on establishing a secure online account. This account will serve the purpose of collecting information and documents required for the personal history questionnaire. The personal history questionnaire must be completed and certified by October 8 2025.

Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an oral board interview to be scheduled the week of November 3 2025.

Under general supervision from the Executive Officer the Accreditation Audits and Inspections Coordinator oversees coordinates and administers the accreditation process for the Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD). This is accomplished by managing records coordinating resources and personnel reviewing policies and making recommendations implementing accreditation standards submitting reports and inspections monitoring records and systems directing and conducting studies analyzing information and assisting with program and policy development. Other duties include but not limited to interpreting standards managing onsite assessments reviewing policies and procedures for compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the departmental accreditation process as mandated by the Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ALEAP) Property and Identification Accreditation through International Association for Property and Evidence and Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) Accreditation.
  • Serves as the departments representative to each accreditation body; and provides presentations to OVPD and the Community about accreditation policy and procedure.
  • Coordinates the overall direction of the policy development through communications and by gathering input from the Executive Officer Command Staff and others within OVPD.
  • Conducts internal department inspections and audits in accordance to policy and procedures.
  • Prepares and presents reports as requested or required to include monthly quarterly annually or specific project management situational reports.
  • Oversee annual assessor reviews coordinates and oversees mock and full onsite assessments and attends accreditation review hearings.
  • Identifies and verifies compliance with established law enforcement standards correcting any noted deficiencies through policy training or other administrative measures.
  • Researches current local and national trends related to accreditation.
  • Reviews standards and ensures the department remains in compliance; stays current in all aspects of the accreditation process to include proposed changes or amendments to the standards and assesses the impact of changes on current policies and procedures.
  • Assists staff in resolving quality assurance and accreditation noncompliance issues and findings.
  • Monitors process designed to meet any accreditation standards; completes updates and submits required reports documents and forms pursuant to policy and procedure.
  • Updates policies procedures and files for primary and secondary proofs of compliance.
  • Maintains accreditation files utilizing necessary document management software (PowerDMS etc.).
  • Conducts regular reviews of policies and procedures to meet all current accreditation requirements correlating any changes with the accreditation tracking system.
  • Compares contrasts examines evaluates and identifies best practices industry standards policy and procedure trends and Police Standards operations rules and regulations by researching and having current situational awareness of technical papers professional journals state and federal publications and other resource materials.
  • Resolves agency non-compliance issues and findings.
  • Assists in developing short and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Attends necessary accreditation coordinator training.
  • Upon request provides subject matter expert testimony related to the accreditation process and agency rules regulation policies procedures disciplinary actions and training.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned to enhance departmental operations by the Office of the Chief.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLSAND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:
  • Business English spelling grammar punctation and composition required to produce and proofread simple written documents.
  • OVPDs organization practices policies procedures and legal demands.
  • Research techniques methods and procedures.
  • Accreditation processes (i.e. ALEAP PSAP Accreditation Property and Identification Accreditation etc.)
  • Basic auditing principles and practices.
  • Risk management and liability.
  • Policy and Procedure development principles.

Ability to:
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to present information in a logical and understandable format.
  • Maintain accurate and timely program records according to prescribed standards.
  • Interpret data and other information and make decisions in conformance with laws regulations and policies.
  • Manage projects priorities multi-task and complete tasks through the cooperation of others.
  • Create comparative and statistical analysis spreadsheets.
  • Edit and proofread policies procedures reports and documentation.
  • Utilize computers and related software such as Excel Word PowerPoint and any other software to fulfill job requirements.
  • Operate a variety of standard office equipment.
  • Manage the departmental accreditation process as mandated by their respective organizations.

Skills in:
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with State and Federal representatives Community Officials and Town of Oro Valley staff at all levels.
  • Managing records and documents.

  • Reviewing standards and ensuring the department remains in compliance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in criminal justice public administration or related field.
  • Three (3) years of accreditation compliance or criminal justice administration coordination.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered.
  • Mustbeof excellent character.
  • Must be aUnited States citizen.
  • Ahigh school diplomaorequivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 of age at the time of hire.
  • Valid Arizona drivers license(Out of stateapplicants shall obtain an Arizonadrivers licenseat time ofhire.)
  • Mustbeable to readwrite and speak English.
  • Ifpriormilitary must havebeen honorablydischarged.
  • No use ofmarijuanawithin the last twoyears.
  • No unlawful use ofanarcoticdrugor dangerous drugwithin the last sevenyears.
  • No pattern ofdrugabuse.
  • No pattern ofdisregard of trafficlaws.
  • No felonyconvictions.
  • Not haveillegallypossessed producedcultivated or transported marijuanaforsale or sold marijuana.
  • Not haveever illegallypossessed or used marijuanaotherthan for experimentation.
  • Successfullycomplete background investigation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience utilizing an electronic document management software ideally PowerDMS.
  • Previous accreditation procedures are desired and knowledge of ALEAP Public Safety Communications Accreditation and/or Public Safety Training Academy Accreditation standards processes and requirements.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Regular daily attendance is an essential function for this position.
