What is the job about

As our new Associate Sales Engineer you will support our Area Sales Manager in the United Utilities Areain securing profitable business you will have a key role in providing commercial and technical support to ensure growth You will negotiate orders identify problems and collaborate with customers to develop solutions. You will be responsible for local activities working alongside our experienced area sales managers meeting business and customers needs and ensure quality service. As our new Associate Sales Engineer your workdays will include outreach sales following-up on opportunities customer relationship management and project collaboration with your internal colleagues.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Support the business and market needs to ensure accelerated growth by providing specific commercial and technical input to all sales activities.
  • Support Area Sales Managers in maximising sales and implementation of strategic plans
  • Implement trials to gain new product acceptance at an operational level.
  • Site visits to identify problems and work with customer to develop solutions. Along with site surveys with Energy teams.
  • Make selections and create quotations for pumps and spares as well as answering customer enquiries.
  • Engage with customers and respond to their requests that require product and application knowledge including troubleshooting skills.
  • Build up and maintain good relationship with all external stakeholders including end users design institutes consulting firms authorities and etc.

Your background:

The ideal candidate would have some experience with external sales or experience within a demanding sales environment. As a person you will be committed driven enthusiastic. You will also have the ability to work in a demanding and ever changing environment where meeting timed deadline and targets is a true motivator.

Along with this you will also:

  • Operate at all levels both internally and externally
  • Have first class communication and negotiation skills
  • Able to work on their own initiative
  • Understands business practices and ethics
  • A Degree or equivalent work experience in Water Engineering or Environment Engineering.
  • Some experience or knowledge of water process products Water Utility industry or within a sales or technical role.
  • Experience or basic understanding of electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of pumping and associated equipment within the water industry would be off benefit but not essential.
  • Experience with controls/automation equipment typically used in the UK water industry would be of benefit but not essential.
