We want to hire a Configuration Engineer who is very skilled and pays close attention to detail. The person who gets the job will be in charge of managing maintaining and improving configuration systems and processes to make sure that our products and solutions are safe and reliable. The Configuration Engineer will work with people from different departments like software developers quality assurance and operations to set up configuration management plans that help the organization reach its goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and write down configuration management plans and procedures and then put them into action.
You are responsible for keeping track of and controlling the baselines for software hardware and documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
Make sure that version control systems follow both company rules and industry standards.
Plan the release of configuration changes and updates with the development and QA teams.
Find and fix configuration problems differences and conflicts.
Use modern tools and scripts to make managing configurations easier and more automated.
Do regular audits to make sure that configuration data is correct and complete.
Help your internal teams learn the best ways to handle configurations by giving them training.
Make and send configuration status reports to top management and other key people.
Requirements:
A bachelors degree in a field that has to do with computer science information technology engineering or something like that.
More than two years of experience in a field related to configuration management systems engineering or something similar.
Can use configuration management tools such as Git Subversion Jenkins and Ansible.
A good understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps.
Good at talking to people staying organized and finding solutions to problems.
It helps if youve worked in fields that are regulated like aerospace defense or healthcare.
Getting a certification in configuration management like CMII or ITIL is very useful.
Pay is between $45 and $65 an hour depending on your experience and skills.
