Job Duties:

This position will assist with the routine and ad hoc payroll processes within and outside of Workday our HR payroll and financial system. This includes running processes in Workday managing integrations and related data validations analyzing data and payroll errors reviewing retroactive transactions reviewing and processing payroll settlements and monitoring for potentially fraudulent activity. They will be well versed in the payroll processing space and have basic knowledge of and support other core processes that interact with payroll (ie HR absence management time tracking benefits).

This position will work collaboratively with all UWSS teams and the Workday Enterprise Support Team to support current operations and may assist with the effort to build and enhance new work streams geared toward operational efficiency and automation of administrative services. This position primarily supports payroll processing and may be tasked with assisting other areas as needed (ie HR benefits purchasing and finance).

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports the bi-weekly payroll process including support of related Workday processes integrations data validations etc.

  • Assists with troubleshooting hardware software and system issues

  • Assist with recommending and participating in the implementation of system enhancements or changes that may involve custom design optional and third-party products

  • Performs basic data analysis and reporting

  • Assure processes comply with applicable regulations and policies and provide adequate internal controls

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement

UW-Shared Services (UWSS) exists to standardize processes consolidate operations and streamline administrative practices to provide high quality services while improving administrative efficiency and addition to providing high quality services UW-Shared Services brings value to UW institutions by reducing administrative burden and cost thereby allowing them to invest time and resources into activities which are more central to their mission.

Compensation:

The Business Systems Analyst (Official Title: Business Systems Analyst I or II ) is a full-time salaried (exempt) academic staff position.

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $70000 - $80000 (Business Systems Analyst I) or $76000 - $86000 (Business Systems Analyst II) title and compensation will be determined commensurate with the candidates education related experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this position a candidate must have:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated experience in operational support of a large complex ERP or other multifaceted system

  • 1 - 3 years business or technical analyst experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Well qualified applicants will also have a substantial amount of experience in a combination of the following:

  • Experience in higher education or large complex organization

  • Experience with HR payroll and/or benefits business system support especially Workday

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others on common goals projects and tasks

  • Ability to use independent judgement and exercise discretion

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word Excel PowerPoint)

Work Location:

The office location is located at 660 W Washington in Madison WI. An in-office requirement is expected three (3) days per week and two days may be worked off-site/remote. Telecommuting agreements are subject to change at any time.
