Description
RPO Recruitments client a leading and reputable engineering consulting firm in South Africa is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Geometric Design Engineer to join their roads department in Cape Town as soon as possible.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute the geometric design of roads and transport infrastructure projects in accordance with SANRAL provincial and municipal standards
- Prepare concept preliminary and detailed geometric design using Autodesk Civil 3D
- Oversee and review horizontal and vertical alignments cross-sections intersections and corridor modelling
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including traffic pavement drainage and structural engineers
- Perform and review design calculations cost estimates BOQs and design reports
- Conduct quality control reviews and ensure designs meet project and statutory requirements
- Provide technical support to project managers and mentor junior engineers and technicians
- Attend site meetings inspections and client engagements as required
Requirements:
- BEng/BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering
- Registered with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng
- Minimum of 12 years experience with at least 5 years post-registration in a consulting environment
- Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D for road and geometric design (essential)
- Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of projects valued at R100 million or more
- Thorough knowledge of relevant design standards and codes (e.g. TMH TRH series SANRAL requirements)
- Strong understanding of geometric design principles including road classifications design speeds sight distances and safety considerations.
- Excellent communication report writing and coordination skills
