About the Role:
The Shopify Software Engineer will lead the build launch and ongoing evolution of a modern Shopify store. This is a hands-on coding role with end-to-end ownership of theme development app integrations and performance optimization. The successful candidate will work closely with design and operations teams to deliver a high-quality scalable store and ensure a seamless customer experience. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a key project and demonstrate technical leadership in eCommerce.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and launch a modern Shopify store from setup to live production ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Translate wireframes and visual designs into pixel-perfect accessible front-end experiences using Liquid HTML/CSS/SCSS and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Optimize site performance through best practices including lazy loading caching strategies and code splitting.
- Implement native Shopify features: theme customization cart/checkout enhancements metafields and dynamic content.
- Integrate and maintain apps such as Klaviyo and Intelligems minimizing performance impact.
- QA across browsers/devices maintain documentation and enforce Git-based version control and code reviews.
- Collaborate with design growth and operations teams to ship high-impact features efficiently.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 4 years professional front-end or full-stack development experience with substantial Shopify theme ownership.
- Expert in Liquid HTML/CSS and JavaScript (and/or TypeScript).
- Strong eye for UI polish and pixel-perfect implementation.
- Experience optimizing site performance (Core Web Vitals Lighthouse responsive images).
- Familiarity with Shopify Functions/Scripts metafields and checkout/cart customizations.
- Proficient with Git workflows and code review.
- Excellent communication and ownership-first mindset.
- Able to collaborate effectively in UK-aligned business hours.
Preferred:
- Experience with Klaviyo templating/hooks and experimentation tools like Intelligems.
- Understanding of SEO basics and web accessibility (WCAG).
- Prior experience delivering high-impact eCommerce projects independently.
