Lecturer (Two Positions)

The Irving K. Barber School of Science at the University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus invites applications for two positions in the Department of Earth Environmental and Geographic Sciences at the rank of Lecturer. The positions are each full time 1.0 FTE 3-year term appointments with an expected start date of January 1 2026 or a date to be mutually agreed upon. These appointments are limited to three years. The successful candidates will be members of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences ( must have a PhD in Fire Ecology or a related field by the time of appointment. Applicants must show a demonstrated ability to teach courses in fire ecology and prescribed fire and evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Applicants from all related fields of expertise are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicants will be prepared to teach a range of online and field-based courses in the Canadian Prescribed Fire Training Program and lead pedagogical research on prescribed fire and wildfire ecology training. The successful applicants will also help administer modify and grow the Canadian Prescribed Fire Training Program in collaboration with the Program Director and staff and in consultation with community government and First Nations stakeholders.
