Software Development Engineer

Ideal candidates for this position will possess a robust background in software architecture design and delivery coupled with expertise in developing solutions for round-the-clock manufacturing operations. Were seeking individuals with full-stack development skills with a strong focus on cloud computing technologies. The ideal applicant will exhibit a genuine passion for enhancing user experiences and optimizing workflows by leveraging AI Agentic technologies as these skills are crucial for driving innovation in our manufacturing processes.

In this role youll have the opportunity to work with latest technologies including Internet of Things (IoT) computer vision and sensor networks while designing and implementing low-latency high-availability distributed systems. Youll contribute to cloud computing solutions and device integration strategies optimize data processing and workload scheduling and apply machine learning and AI techniques to enhance our manufacturing processes. This position offers a unique blend of challenges that will allow you to leverage your technical skills across a wide range of advanced technologies all aimed at revolutionizing our manufacturing capabilities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Designing implementing testing deploying and maintaining innovative distributed software solutions
- Analyzing and optimizing applications and services
- Writing clean maintainable code and conducting peer code reviews
- Collaborating on technical feasibility studies and prototyping
- Implementing software engineering best practices
- Working in an agile startup-like environment

A successful candidate will bring the following experience to the team:
- Experience programming with Java or Kotlin including object-oriented design and modern development practices
- Experience with UI/frontend development including web technologies and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React
- Experience with GenAI technologies such as large language models (LLMs) prompt engineering and agentic AI systems
- Experience with AI tools for software development such as Cline Amazon Q Developer Kiro Cursor Claude Code etc
- Experience in manufacturing supply chain or logistics domain; understanding of industry-specific challenges and solutions

Travel
5% travel to the MOD cells for software deployment testing and support

- 2 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java C or C# including object-oriented design

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with computer vision photo/video processing AI inspection

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
