The Department of Corrections Division of Institutions is recruiting for multiple Food Service Lead positions at the Wildwood Correctional Center (WCC) located in Kenai Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Lead inmate kitchen workers in the preparation and production of meals for approximately 500 inmates per meal at WCC in the main kitchen or the satellite kitchen.
  • Maintain security and control of inmates and ensure safety and security measures are followed including State Department and Institution policies.
  • Ensure that all modified diets are properly prepared for each meal which includes but is not limited to vegetarian diabetic allergy disruptive inmate diets religious diets and other diets as prescribed by the Medical Department.
  • Oversee the production and preparation of all bakery items served at WCC.
  • Ensure food pulled is accurate for the menu item being prepared and oversee the actual preparation and serving of food to inmates.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

Wildwood Correctional Complex is a state adult correctional institution housing inmate of all custody levels. This position works in the kitchens and will interact with inmates daily.

Minimum Qualifications

Vacancies in this job class are filled through Union referral except for promotions demotions transfers and emergency appointments.

RECRUITMENT DIFFICULTIES

Starting salary may be approved up to Step D - $27.54 if criteria are met.

Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
