What is the C.A.R.E.S. Academy
The C.A.R.E.S. Academy is an option for a small population of students who have exhibited a variety of behavioral and/or mental health challenges throughout a process of documented interventions with limited to no success. Students enrolled in this program will receive interventions and support in social/emotional skills behavior management and regulation and academic interventions.

Job Type Description
The successful applicant will teach all primary subjects and must have good classroom management skills and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. The candidate will also teach all Unified Arts classes to students (Art Music and Physical Education). Additionally the candidate will work collaboratively with the C.A.R.E.S. Academys Planning and Placement Team home school staff and other identified support staff members to provide academic behavioral and social/emotional interventions for identified students. Fluid class size will be a maximum of 10 students at one time.
Salary Schedule
Berkeley County Schools Teacher Pay Scale based upon degree level and verified years of experience. 200-day employment term.
Qualifications Requirements
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to be a qualified and effective candidate for the vacancy.
A minimum of a Bachelors degree and holds or ability to hold West Virginia teacher licensure in the endorsement(s) of elementary education K-6 or K-8 or multi-subjects K-6.
Additional Job Information
Candidates with previous experience working in special education will be preferred. Additional training will be provided in the areas of: Trauma Informed Practices Ukeru CPI and other identified a certified candidate is unavailable for this position then an applicant who is eligible for a first-class permit alternative certification or a perm sub can be considered.
