Job Duties:
POSITION:A full-time university staff position is available in Facilities beginning as soon as possible. The official title for this assignment is Heat/Cool Plant Operator I with a working title of Boiler Operator. This is an expected-to-continue assignment which requires a twelve-month probationary period during which all operational aspects of the heating plant will be learned.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains forms logs or reports
- Starts stops and adjusts equipment settings to maintain operational requirements
- Cleans and maintains work areas and equipment
- Makes regular inspections of plant equipment and prepares equipment malfunction reports
- Communicates to/with plant personnel to ensure operational and safety objectives are met
- Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the plant and its associated equipment
- Works under direct supervision while on shift operations
- Complies with environmental protection protocols and procedures
- Adheres to safety protocols and procedures
- Assists with preventative and corrective maintenance as needed

The hourly hiring salary is up to $19.00 to $21.00 per hour (commensurate on experience) plus shift differential and full benefits.
Required Qualifications:
- Mechanical Aptitude.
- Clean Driving Record to allow driving State vehicles.
- General computer and keyboard skills
- Physical ability to walk stand sit lift and climb ladders.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- High level of dedication to quality service by interacting directly with students staff or other external customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Military Service
- Graduate of Building Utility or Maintenance related program with two years of experience in a related field.
- Boiler License from an accredited organization or three years of experience operating and maintaining boilers.
- Industrial maintenance experience repairing motors pumps fans or gear reductions.
- Experience with metal fabrication.
