General Summary:

With a focus on maximizing student retention and success the Senior Career Coordinator under the supervision of the Senior Director will design and maintain reporting dashboards at the departmental level utilized to inform and forecast student involvement staff engagement employer engagement costs for events addition this role will assist with classroom presentations on career related material (designed at the department level) and coach students in one-on-one meetings on a variety of career topics. The normal work week is 40 hours per week from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend work required.

At the division level the Senior Career Coordinator will work with the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs to plan and implement division-wide assessment initiatives reconcile data and write reports for a variety of audiences. This role is integral for assisting the division of student affairs to better tell the story of its impact to the larger university community and at the state regional and national levels.

Responsibilities:

Career Advising/Coaching

  • Provides career advising to students prospective students and alumni in the areas of career planning resume writing job search networking interviewing skills salary evaluation career and employment issues and professional development.
  • Assists with Career and Professional Development initiatives events and activities including job fairs networking receptions outreach activities and other special events
  • Maintains knowledge of campus and community resources to facilitate referrals as necessary

Division Wide Assessment

  • Work in collaboration with the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs to plan and implement division-wide assessment initiatives reconcile data and write reports for a variety of audiences.
  • Consults with department leaders on assessment needs .
  • Works with complex data sets from various sources including static and dynamic data qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Projects could include but are not limited to: University Strategic Plan Learning Assessments for accreditation (currently with SACSCOC) division-wide goals etc. utilizing statistical analysis to determine predictors of retention and other student success outcomes; developing and managing a dashboard of key metrics for all departments in the division.

Departmental Assessment

  • Design and implement assessment initiatives at the departmental level to inform decision making and processes and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Administers appropriate assessment measures to students alumni and employers.
  • Assists the Office of Institutional Research & Effectiveness with First Destination Survey Outcomes data as requested .
  • Report departmental data to NACE as needed/requested.
  • Share departmental assessments as requested in a variety of formats to a variety of audiences.
  • Maintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System University and job-specific online training courses.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years of related experience in data assessment higher education and/or career services work.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students; community business and Industry leaders; and University personnel required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal public speaking written communication time management and decision-making skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills including the ability to coordinate multiple demanding projects.
  • Excellent computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of database applications and adept with video conferencing technologies.
  • Must be comfortable in and familiar with a team-centered cross-trained collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Professional demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in higher education student affairs counseling or other specialty related to job function.
  • Demonstrated successful career services training and development.
  • Experience in a university career or advising center or role.
  • Educational or teaching experience.
  • Experience managing people and/or large projects.
  • Experience utilizing a data driven approach to inform higher education practices and initiatives.
  • Exceptional ability to relay complex information to a variety of audiences through a variety of means (presentation assessment reporting conversations infographics etc.)
  • Proficient in the use of software to conduct statistical analysis surveys and data visualization.
  • Experienced with conducting student focus groups and interviews.
