Job Summary

The mission of the Segue Institute for Learning is to foster a community where students take ownership of their education. The Segue Institute for Learning is a safe and nurturing environment that promotes diversity encourages individual growth and allows students to view themselves as citizens of change in their homes and include but are not limited to:Instructional Responsibilities:-Implements and designs instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences-Identifies selects and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds learning styles and individual needs-Collaborates to develop align and modify curriculum and assessments-Assumes responsibility for meeting student performance goals in his/her course as well as school-wide student learning objectives-Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group subject area and/or program classification-Implements PBIS and restorative practices to manage classroomProfessional Responsibilities:-Collaborates to develop align and modify lessons curriculum and assessments (e.g. Performance Based Assessments)-Maintains effective and efficient record-keeping procedures (parent communication log behavioral log student work samples)-Collaborates with colleagues to enhance the instructional environment-Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students parents peers and community-Participates in professional development opportunities-Follows all school safety procedures and protocolsCommunity Involvement Responsibilities:-Provides a positive environment in which students and families are encouraged to be actively engaged in all facets of the learning process-Communicates effectively with students parents and other professionals on a regular basis (e.g. phone calls post cards emails parent teacher conferences progress reports etc)-Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students parents teachers and community-Performs other duties and responsibilities to meet the needs of our school-Takes an active role in the school environment during and after school hours with individual initiatives or activities (field trips school concerts etc)
