Job Description
JOB PURPOSE & SUMMARY
This is a highly technical position responsible for the architecture and design of complex Intel computing environments representing the foundation of many Agency computer services. Focuses on Intel Hardware Administration Virtualization technologies and Disaster Recovery processes. The position requires great cross collaboration teamwork skills to coordinate and support other system administrators architects and programmers within the Agency.
Lead the planning and strategy for Virtual Machine guest host cluster virtual network and Input/Output high availability for the virtualized environments supporting VDI.
Develop migration plans for major VDI system upgrades.
Create system images used to build new servers to DOD STIG standards.
Provide high level of expertise in the architecture design availability and backup of VDI clustered environments
Lead team in support of incident management project delivery and compliance activities.
Collaborate with other Information Technology (IT) teams to understand business needs and requirements to deliver improvements to processes projects and services.
Measure and track performance using tools to ensure that Service Level Agreements are met.
Lead team to enhance performance and achieve targets.
Identifies opportunities to improve VDI efficiency and effectiveness.
Coordinate maintenance of Disaster Recovery retention policies. Collaborate with application owners to implement sound reasonable backup and retention policies.
Monitor service level agreements to maximize value to the business.
Ensure the VDI environments adhere to security and compliance requirements
Leads team in support of incident management project delivery and compliance activities. Works with other I/T teams to understand business needs and requirements in order to deliver improvements to processes projects and services.
Measures and tracks performance. Leads team to enhance performance and achieve targets. Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Coordinate various hardware and firmware upgrades for multiple hardware platforms

Troubleshoot various production/implementation issues involving a variety of Intel based software applications establishing root cause and recommending solutions
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree in computer science or related field and 5-10 plus years of Intel/ESX experience or an equivalent combination of experience with training and/or certification.
Any job-related certifications secondary education or experience a plus.
Thorough understanding of Intel virtualized environments SQL Server environments Imaging Systems on Intel platform experience Storage Area Network experience and Disaster Recovery strategies.
Proficient in troubleshooting complex technical problems
Demonstrated experience successfully delivering complex initiatives meeting quality and time expectations.
Must be able to communicate at a highly technical level in order to work effectively with peers and other I/T staff.
Preferred Qualifications: Recognized industry Administrator certification.
