Behavioral Health Quality Consultant

In this role youll play a vital part in performing an independent audit of all behavioral health counselors clinical documentation to ensure compliance with clinical regulatory and billing requirements helping us move forward with purpose and precision. Essential Job Duties:

1. Chart Review

• Audit 75% of charts from each counselor
• Access documentation for completeness accuracy timelines and alignment with treatment plans.
• Evaluate medical necessity and the appropriateness of services provided.
• Review billing and coding practices for compliance with payer requirements.

2. Reporting

• Provide a written report of findings including compliance gaps risks and trends.
• Recommend corrective actions and best practices to strengthen documentation and billing compliance.
• Present findings to leadership and compliance team.

3. Follow-Up

• Conduct re-audit of corrected charts
• Provide training or consultation to staff on identified areas of improvement

4. Deliverables

• Audit checklist and tool (developed or approved by organization)
• Written audit report (summary and detail by counselors)
• Recommendations for corrective action and compliance improvements.

Initial Audit Completed: 11/10/2025

Final Report Due: 12/1/2025

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with compliance and regulatory requirements with CARF and CMS.
• Minimum 5 years experience in community mental health required.
• Knowledge of treatment planning medical necessity standards and clinical documentation requirements.
• Understanding behavioral health billing and coding standards including Medicaid and insurance compliance.
• Current Ohio Independent Social Work License (LISW) or Ohio Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) Preferred.
