The IT Subject-Matter Expert (SME) for networking will be a key resource for the BEA providing advanced technical expertise for the design implementation and maintenance of network communication systems. This role will focus on ensuring the network infrastructure is stable secure and efficient to support the BEAs critical mission of producing economic statistics. The SME will be responsible for providing expert guidance and ensuring the overall technical solution meets product requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Design plan install and support network communication systems.
- Provide detailed schematics for network architecture.
- Select and implement hardware and software for efficient solutions considering current and future capacity needs.
- Conduct testing of network designs.
- Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing including routers multiplexers firewalls hubs bridges and gateways.
- Evaluate and report on new communication technologies.
- Ensure the quality of work meets the highest standards.
- Participate in program readiness and design reviews.
- Provide expertise on IT infrastructure design including Active Directory DNS firewalls and TCP/IP.
Skills/Experience:
- Extensive experience (5 years preferred) in IT system administration and operational support.
- Demonstrated expertise in network design troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Proficiency with networking tools including Cisco routers and switches.
- Knowledge of network architecture security and compliance requirements.
- Experience with Active Directory DNS firewalls and TCP/IP.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) are highly valued.
