Japan Operations Risk and Regulatory Control (ORRC) team is responsible for Disclosure of Interest Client Asset Segregation and Transaction Reporting. Our goal is to ensure the establishment of effective industry leading controls through structured risk identification and the proactive review of global Operations processes. ORRC performs complex multi-product regulatory reporting and ensures the appropriate guardianship of client assets. The team is also an interface between Operations Regulators internal and external Auditors and Legal and Compliance.
Disclosure of Interest (DOI) team focuses on fulfilling regulatory requirements including Short Position monitoring and disclosure and Substantial Shareholder position monitoring and disclosure as well as multiple other oversight functions to ensure Morgan Stanley is meeting reporting and disclosing in line with Regulations.
Client Asset Segregation (CAS) team is responsible for monitoring and processing daily client asset segregation as well as preparing regulatory reports related to client asset segregation and submitting them to addition team will be responsible for monitoring and executing Audit confirmation requests and also will be collaborating with internal teams and external auditors on Client Asset Segregation audits.
Transaction Reporting (TR) team is responsible for creating verifying and submitting regulators reports to Japan regulators such as FSA BOJ JSDA etc. assessing the impact to those regulatory reports due to market changes or in-house system changes and implementing necessary changes to the reporting system and procedure so that the Firm will comply with regulations. The team also provides oversight to Legal Ledgers across all products in Operations.
The individual will be fully responsible for managing the CAS team (both Tokyo and Osaka members) functionally and is also expected to oversight Osaka DOI and TR functions during business-critical scenarios (if hiring location is in Osaka). This role requires partnering with Legal and Compliance to come up with the correct interpretation on local regulatory requirements Technology to understand the system architecture and plan strategic enhancements and other Operations teams to conduct business analysis on any changes or new requirements to regulations that would require change management in the existing operations front to back. Skills required
> Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese (ability to communicate properly with Regulators in Japan and ability to communicate with global functional managers)
> Be able to perform functions to manage and check processes performed by team members to ensure the highest standards of accuracy are met
> Building a detailed understanding of each process ensuring accurate filings made to the regulators
> Identification mitigation escalation and reporting of potential/current risks.
> Acquiring an intricate knowledge of firm booking models systems data sources and processes building the ability to understand the wider environment and question data integrity.
> Good interpersonal skills and good communication skills able to interact and communicate openly and effectively across cultural and hierarchical lines within the Firm
> Demonstrate excellent attention to detail when analyzing or interpreting data
> Advanced Excel skill (ability to understand formulas and utilize pivot table)
> Be able to communicate with Technology counterparts to understand system logic discuss business requirements and negotiate priorities for implementation
> Team lead and people management experience
Preferred
> Knowledge of Japan regulations (FIEA etc.) Japan regulatory reporting and legal ledger.
> Technology related project experience
> Proficiency in Microsoft Word Access and PowerPoint
> Experience in automation tools (Alteryx UIPath Power BI etc.)
