Job Description

Job Title: ASSISTANT MANAGER NIGHT SHIFT

Location: Medical Respite 1171 Mission St.

Reports to: Deputy Director of Support Services

Status: Non-exempt Non-union

Hourly Wage: $33.66/hour

Hours: 11pm-7am Monday-Friday

Community Forward SF is changing the way women receive homeless services in San Francisco. For over 45 years weve led the way in innovative compassionate community-based care for chronically homeless and disenfranchised individualsespecially women older adults and those with severe medical or mental health needs. We operate the citys only 24/7 drop-in center for women experiencing homelessness and provide a full continuum of care including mental health services gender-specific recovery programs medical respite transitional housing and permanent supportive housing. Our person-centered model emphasizes dignity empowerment and healing and our staff reflects the communities we servemany with lived experience of homelessness. We also lead on systems change having helped create the SF Womens Housing Coalition and advancing gender-focused policy at the local state and national levels. Our mission is to help the most vulnerable individuals get off the streets access comprehensive services and achieve the stability they need to thrive.

JOB SUMMARY:

Community Forward SF is hiring an Assistant Manager for the Medical Respite Program one of our flagship programs providing a safe space for medically vulnerable San Franciscans to recover and heal with nursing support from our partners at the Department of Public Health. Assistant Managers are the right hand to our Deputy Director of Support Services overseeing staffing and operations for their designated shift or work area.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support the Community Forward SF (CFSF) mission to promote stabilization hope and healing for adults experiencing homelessness in San Francisco.
  • Work collaboratively with other CFSF employees DPH and security services in an integrated team to meet shared goals.
  • Ensure that residents are treated with dignity and respect and that their physical psychological and emotional needs are adequately met while residing at the facility.
  • Train supervise and evaluate program staff on your designated shift.
  • Coordinate staff schedules and daily program activities.
  • Oversee correct and timely punch-in/punch-out and submission of employee hours to payroll.
  • Initiate progressive disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Maintain and document review of client complaints/concerns on a regular basis.
  • Meet with clients on a regular basis to ensure quality service acting as a community liaison.
  • Participate in program planning development and maintenance of program goals.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work/be on-call on evenings and/or weekends.
  • Facilitate community (client) meetings.
  • Training and meeting attendance. Ensure your direct reports complete mandatory training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous management experience and/or training.
  • Comfort with technology including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Google Suite and payroll software.
  • Possess the ability to work both independently and cooperatively.
  • Strong ability to effectively de-escalate conflict.
  • Understanding of homelessness trauma domestic/intimate partner violence substance use disorder and recovery HIV/AIDS harm reduction mental health disorders neurodiversity LGBTQIA communities and systems of oppression.
  • Ability to work sensitively with individuals from diverse cultures languages abilities backgrounds and identities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • CPR and first aid certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • TB clearance and verification of full COVID-19 vaccination within 7 days of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bicultural bilingual Spanish (or other SF Threshold Language)
  • Knowledge of San Francisco community resources.
  • Experience working with at-risk client populations.
  • Passion for working with at-risk client populations
  • Lived experience with homelessness and/or other systems of oppression
  • Strong self-awareness cultural humility and commitment to personal praxis.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand and walk as needed throughout the shift for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and use a computer including keyboard and visual display terminal for extended periods of time.
  • Finger hand and wrist agility.
  • Ability to complete tasks in an environment where interruptions are the norm and background noise is present.
  • Ability to move through buildings commonly including stairs between buildings and out in the community
