NATURE OF WORK: The Interventionist is responsible for the academic growth of small groups of students. The Interventionist will meet one-on-one or in small groups with students to assess their current level of performance and provide targeted instruction. The Interventionist is responsible for keeping detailed records of their sessions with students and reviewing data. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: |
Instructional Setting - Work individually or in small groups with students to assess current level of performance.
- Provide targeted instructional that meets the need of each individual students.
- Write lesson plans and analyze data under the direction of the Intervention Coordinator.
- Treat all children with dignity and respect.
- Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences including in-service training as may be required by the district.
- Operate and care for instructional equipment used in the classroom.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Follow directions given by head teacher or immediate supervisor.
Student Management - Assist with the supervision of students outside the classroom such as: field trips to assist with student supervision and safety during play period lunchroom activities dismissal etc.
School/Community Relations - Maintain confidentiality about children their families and other employees outside the school.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information documents communications incidents etc. with discretion and in a conscientious manner.
- Cooperate and share professionally with other members of the staff.
The Interventionist will promote: - High academic/achievement for all children;
- A greater focus on teaching and learning;
- Flexibility to stimulate local initiatives coupled with responsibility for student performance;
- Improved linkages among schools parents and communities.

Assessment responsibilities: - Conducts student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention services to plan instruction and/or to assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Collaborates as needed with appropriate district/campus personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions.
Professional Development responsibilities: - Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through professional development activities.
- Participates in discussions or activities focused on using research to improve reading
- Participates in staff development focused on delivery of reading intervention and assessment.
