Job Description

The Senior Regional Admissions Counselor serves as a key member of the Undergraduate Admissions team. This role is responsible for managing designated geographic territory and implementing a comprehensive recruitment strategy to attract and enroll highly qualified students who align with the mission and values of High Point University.

The Senior Regional Admissions Counselor represents the university at both on- and off-campus events cultivates strong relationships with prospective students parents school counselors and community partners and provides personalized guidance throughout the admissions process. This position requires a high level of professionalism strategic planning and sensitivity to the varied needs of students and families.

This position will effectively manage a remote territory (Mid-West: Missouri Kansas Iowa North Dakota South Dakota Minnesota Nebraska) and supervises a region for recruitment of prospective students within the territory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelors degree required
  • The candidate must reside within the assigned territory region listed above.

Preferred Experience

  • Three to five years of admissions experience in a college or university setting with direct involvement in student recruitment.
  • Individual must possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must work well independently and in groups.
  • Experience in counseling sales or customer service with an entrepreneurial spirit is preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build authentic relationships with prospective students families high school counselors and community partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to craft personalized outreach and deliver engaging presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities work independently and achieve recruitment goals while delivering a positive student-centered experience.
  • Self-motivated and highly productive in a remote or hybrid work environment balancing proactive outreach with responsive student support.

Technical Proficiency

  • Knowledge and ability to use computers and related technologies effectively from basic operations to more advanced functions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite CRM systems and internet-based research tools.

Other Requirements

  • Comfortable with extensive travel representing the university professionally in varied settings.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record; insurable for university-related travel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops and implements a strategic recruitment plan to attract academically qualified students from target high schools within the assigned territory.
  • Establishes and tracks measurable goals for inquiries applications campus visitors admitted students and enrolled students.
  • Resides and work within the assigned territory actively participating in regional admissions activities and events to increase High Point Universitys visibility and recognition.
  • Coordinate travel logistics schedules and budgets to maximize recruitment impact while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
  • Travels to campus 5-7 times per academic year for training team updates and support of on campus events.
  • Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with high school counselors independent counselors prospective students and families through in-person and virtual meetings as well as phone email and text communication.
  • Guides prospective students and families through the admissions funnel by effectively communicating the value of a High Point University education.
  • Evaluates admissions applications and make informed admissions recommendations.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the universitys admissions standards academic programs extracurricular opportunities and institutional values in order to articulate the benefits of a private education and the unique value of High Point University.
  • Supports major admissions events such as Open Houses Presidential Scholarship Program Innovation Summit Admitted Student Days and Counselor Open House
  • Contributes to office committees and provide remote coverage for office responsibilities.
  • Manages recruitment activity and student interactions in the CRM system ensuring accurate documentation and data integrity.
  • Fosters a positive collaborative and professional work environment through effective communication with students families colleagues faculty and supervisors.
  • Required evening and weekend work in order to support recruitment and admissions initiatives.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
