Job Description

JOB GOAL:The Structured Literacy Specialist is responsible for literacy screening and diagnostic literacy assessments to plan and implement comprehensive and intensive interventions that will support the needs of students in the area of Structured Literacy Specialist will perform a wide variety of specialized and Multisensory Structured Literacy tasks to support identified struggling students beyond tier one core ELA instruction. It is expected that researched based instructional and intervention practices will be implemented and based on the knowledge and practices of the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy. The Structured Literacy Specialist will ensure student assessments goals and progress monitoring is maintained on personal literacy addition the Structured Literacy Specialist will work cooperatively with administrators teachers students and parents to ensure successful implementations of intervention practices. This includes sharing best practices goals and results with teachers who also work with the students he/she TO: Building PrincipalPROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: literacy and life-long and promptly submit accurate complete and correct records and reports as required by law by grant regulations by district policy and by administrative or serve as a member on school literacy groups and rapport with faculty and and participating in all required school rules administrative regulations and Board all reasonable and necessary precautions to protect students equipment and RESPONSIBILITIES: organize and evaluate Interventions for individual students beyond tier one core sequence and scaffold tier 2 and tier 3 and interpret assessment scores for purposes of accommodating or modifying successfully with administrators teachers students and assessment data to improve instruction and problem a range of assessment tools as a means to make sound decisions about student literacy needs as related to the curriculum and to formal and informal assessment data on students to determine student response to individualized intensive interventions based in Multisensory Structured Literacy practices for students who have not achieved their reading whole class small group and individual instruction according to individual student records (including anecdotal) of progress of each student receiving intervention (PLP goals interventions and progress monitoring). student progress through written progress reports for parents administrators and future classroom a wide variety of responsible and specialized tasks; Interpret and apply rules and regulations as upon request individual diagnostic in team reviews concerning academic progress of at-risk students who may or may not responding to scheduled meetings and parent the schools curriculum personnel in providing services to special in-service training and follow-up coaching to assist classroom teachers in the use of reading/learning strategies in their with teachers individually in collaborative teams and/or with departments providing practical support on a full range of reading writing and communication in district-level in-service meetings and assisting in the coordination of district level in-service professional growth and strengthen professional teaching knowledge skills and strategies through an ongoing program of workshops seminars conferences and/or advanced course to provide staff development for teachers volunteers parents paraprofessionals administrators and other appropriate personnel as to coordinate school-based professional development in reading aligned with the schools afterschool professional development opportunities and the District Professional Development other duties as assigned.
