Supervisor Patient Access

Nebraska Medicine is looking for a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills to join our Patient Access team as a Supervisor in the Emergency this role you will be a key member of the leadership team overseeing the daily operations of Patient Access and coordinating staffing and workflows to support one of the busiest and most critical areas of our health system.

You will serve as both a mentor and subject matter expert modeling and training staff on technical and service skills while providing guidance on escalated issues. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for fostering a positive team-focused environment that enhances both patient and employee satisfaction analyzing workflows for improvements and ensuring seamless operations to support extraordinary care in the Emergency Department.

Duties: Supervisor Patient Access

Serve on the leadership team as a shift supervisor for the designated operation by overseeing all aspects of day-to-day Patient Access Operations. Partner closely with colleagues to serve as an Access expert regularly model/mentor and train colleagues on technical skills make decisions regarding daily priorities for the work group provide guidance to an/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues and complete performance appraisals and/or disciplinary actions. Coordinate staffing and operations for registration and scheduling areas within Ambulatory Clinics procedural areas and ACCESS services. Support on and off site management of services. Provide guidance for ACCESS team members enterprise clinics and decentralized registration areas by creating a positive work environment to maintain patient and employee satisfaction. Provide operations oversight analysis training troubleshooting and analysis of resource requirements. Provide support to operations by assessing work flows and making recommendations for improvement. Must work in production as required.

Required Qualifications: Supervisor Patient Access

Minimum of five years of customer service experience required.

Minimum of one year of experience to include the majority of the following: serve as an operational expert for a group of employees regularly model/mentor and train employees on technical skills make decisions regarding daily priorities for a work group provide guidance to and/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues.

Bachelors degree required or equivalent combination of education/experience combined required (One year of education equals one year of experience.)

Ability to exhibit strong leadership strong planning and organizational skills required.

Ability to work independently exercise creativity/innovation and be attentive to detail required.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to problem solve and exhibit strong judgment skills in a well-thought out and timely fashion and determine appropriate course of action in significantly complex situations required.

Based on department may be required to work holiday and/or weekends.

Expert knowledge in computer based applications specifically Microsoft products including Excel and Word required.

Excellent written and verbal skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize work and direct staff required.

Ability to type 45 words per minute with 95% accuracy required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationwithin six months of hire or transfer date for employees working in hospital environment required must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1 2023 or later).

Preferred Qualifications: Supervisor Patient Access

Leadership experience preferred.

Experience in hospital patient registration preferred.

Experience with hospital revenue cycle preferred.

Experience leading staff in a 24 hour 7 day a week operation preferred.

Project management experience preferred.

Bachelors degree in healthcare business or project management preferred.

Knowledge of Microsoft ACCESS preferred.
