The position is designated Statutory Exempt and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act.


This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agencys remote work program but does require weekly onsite work.


The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) is seeking a data-driven and strategic HR Data Analytics Consultant to support the agencys human resources operations through advanced data analysis reporting and process optimization. This role is critical in transforming HR data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making and improve organizational performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex HR data to identify trends patterns and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and HR dashboards
  • Create and deliver reports for internal and external stakeholders including executive leadership and state agencies
  • Optimize HR processes through data-driven solutions and automation
  • Consult with HR staff and leadership to support strategic planning and workforce development
  • Conduct training sessions to build data literacy across HR teams
  • Ensure data quality consistency and compliance with security standards

About the Division:

The NCDIT Human Resources Division provides comprehensive human resources program support to the agency workforce statewide. The Division ensures compliance with Federal and State law and guides agency leadership management supervisors and employees in the areas of: HR policy administration and interpretation classification and compensation employee relations / disciplinary procedures grievance administration recruitment and selection pay administration HRIS administration performance management workforce development / talent management benefits administration HR records management internship / apprenticeship programs HR data analytics and workforce safety and health programs.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

The following Management Preferences are not required but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

Management Preferences:

  • Experience with data analytics and/or dashboarding
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or PowerBI
  • Related certifications such as from the Project Management Institute (PMI)

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of progressive experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    At NCDIT we are dedicated to fostering a collaborative and flexible work environment offering a hybrid remote work option for positions that are conducive to remote flexibility. If you do not currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned duty station new hires are granted up to 120 days from their start date to relocate.
