GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


Join the supportive fiscal team at the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) as an Accounting Analyst! This role is central to keeping our financial operations accurate and efficient. Youll prepare reports track budgets and support fiscal processes that help the agency deliver on its mission. As an Accounting Analyst you will:

  • Prepare and review financial reports and budgets.
  • Monitor expenditures contracts and financial records for accuracy.
  • Support grant and budget processes by tracking spending and deadlines.
  • Help improve processes and recommend updates to strengthen efficiency.
  • Assist with audits reporting and ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines.
  • Provide support to staff and serve as a resource for resolving financial issues.

Youll also have opportunities to take on special projects and other unique assignments that keep the work interesting. Along the way youll collaborate with different teams across the agency building connections and learning new skills.


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:


  • Knowledge of principles concepts practices methods and techniques of State and Federal governmental accounting fiscal controls and fiscal accounting.
  • Knowledge of and ability to create and edit programs and use of office software programs such as Excel Access Word PowerPoint etc.
  • Knowledge of State Accounting Systems (WOLFS).
  • Skills in time management and workload prioritization.
  • Skills in analysis and decision-making.
  • Skills in problem-solving.
  • Ability to analyze financial reports and identify errors.
  • Ability to train personnel in various programs and accounting systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff in the Division Department and other state and federal agencies.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelors Degree (typically in Finance)
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Senior Accountant
OR
Education & ExperienceSubstitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Senior Accountant
