The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation treatment habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions jail based evaluations supervised group home and residential programs forensic evaluation care custody and aftercare; intermediate and long term psychiatric are in coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana

ELMHS is looking for a motivated detail oriented individual to come and join the team in the Nursing Department as an LPN!

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license a temporary permit or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state plus two years of experience as a licensed practical nurse.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

In this role you will:

  • Transcribe doctors orders accurately and timely
  • Prepare administer and document medications and treatments as ordered.
  • Document patients response to medication regime PRN and stat dose administration. Provide patient teaching according to medications prescribed.
  • Check and justify all medications from Pharmacy and maintain clean orderly and well-stocked medication room.
  • Monitor patient status in milieu and assesses patient behaviors.
  • Report dangerous or inappropriate patient behaviors to RN supervisor.
  • Provide written and verbal reports of ward/unit occurrences to RN and provides information for shift hand-off.
  • Assist Medical Doctor as needed and assures follow up on orders are completed.
  • Direct psychiatric aide staff and/or Correction Guard-Therapeutic in performance of their duties and serves as resource for same.
  • Participate in unit activities and provides educational information for patients.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings in-service trainings and other educational programs.
  • Participate in education trainings that are mandatory for accreditation and licensure of the facility.
  • Maintain a current and unencumbered motor vehicle License

Compensation:

  • This position has an SER of $22.30 an hour or $1784.00 bi-weekly for LPN 3
  • This position is eligible for the following premium pays (Per Hour Physically Worked):
    • Facility Longevity Starting at $2.00
    • Recruitment/Retention - $10.00
  • This position qualifies for shift differentials with rates varying based on shift time day of the week and holidays.
