Job Summary

We are looking for an individual to step in in West Kelowna and support youth ages 12-19 as they build meaningful friendships navigate challenges in their life and participate in Y activities in our community!

  • Engaging youth in impactful and beneficial group programming delivering programs in-person at multiple youth-serving sites across the Central Okanagan including schools community centres youth centres and YMCAs
  • Participating in opportunities programs and events that increase youths ability to socialize at YMCA centres improving connectivity and ensuring a strong sense of belonging for youth in the Central Okanagan.
  • Assisting with implementing group programs daily activities and one-to-one support in accordance with YMCA standards and program expectations
  • Fostering meaningful relationships and providing a place to belong for youth seeking growth in their lives
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all members participants staff and property at all times

Wed love to hear from people with:

  • Relevant education or education in progress (degree diploma or certificate) and/or experience working with children and/or youth
  • Experience working with children & youth with exceptionalities an asset
  • Excellent work ethic communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion to help youth achieve their full potential through purposeful programming and implementation
  • A high regard for Child Safeguarding practices
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills - you leave spaces and administration better than you found them!
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Motivational Interviewing Mental Health First Aid Certification considered an asset (training provided)

  • Service Orientated: Deliberately identifies and creates opportunities to enhance each and every individuals YMCA experience. Creates action plans to resolve any service gap areas.
  • Relationship Building and Collaboration:Builds positive interactions listens attentively and communicates effectively to create an open communication environment. Share information best practices and resources with colleagues.

Position details:

  • part time potential for full time hours. Day time hours based on school calendar year.
  • Schedule: 20-29 hours per week (flexible based on schedule availability and program needs)
  • Compensation: $19.22/hr to start dependent on education and experience YMCA membership
  • Contract school year
