Position Summary
Laurel House is seeking a skilled and motivated Community Education Supervisor to lead our prevention and education initiatives. The Supervisor will oversee the Community Education team manage outreach efforts across Montgomery County and ensure high-quality programming for schools colleges youth groups faith-based communities and other organizations. This role combines leadership program development and direct engagement to strengthen community awareness and reduce the prevalence of intimate partner violence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Leadership
- Provide supervision coaching and support to Community Educators.
- Oversee scheduling workload distribution and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative professional and mission-driven team environment.
- Program Oversight
- Develop implement and evaluate prevention and education programs.
- Ensure presentations workshops and outreach efforts are evidence-based culturally relevant and trauma-informed.
- Track program outcomes and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Community Engagement
- Serve as the lead liaison for schools colleges youth groups and community partners requesting education and outreach.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations to strengthen prevention efforts.
- Represent Laurel House at community events coalitions and professional meetings.
- Content Development
- Oversee creation of educational materials tailored for diverse audiences (youth parents professionals faith leaders etc.).
- Stay current on research trends and policies in domestic violence prevention incorporating best practices into programming.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in social work education psychology public health or related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Minimum 35 years of experience in domestic violence prevention education or related field.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Demonstrated ability to train mentor and supervise staff.
- Strong public speaking and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics prevention strategies and community resources.
- Excellent interpersonal organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse populations and foster inclusive environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and presentation tools.
- Valid drivers license reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance required.
Preferred Skills:
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English or ASL highly desirable).
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or related populations.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practices.
