Position Summary

Lavner Education seeks an experienced and highly organized Director of Operations and Business Development to join our team in preparation for the 2026 summer camp season. This dual role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all camp activities while also driving strategic growth. The Director will oversee all operational aspects of the camp including transportation procurement and outsourced lunch program and will report directly to the COO and other key stakeholders. This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive problem-solver with a strong ability to coordinate with multiple teams and stakeholders as well as a forward-thinking individual who can identify and capitalize on new opportunities to expand our camps reach and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Procurement:

  • Manage strategize and coordinate all camp logistics.
  • Oversee the procurement process including sourcing ordering and managing the inventory of all camp supplies and equipment.
  • Develop and implement efficient systems for inventory management to prevent shortages and waste.

Working with Campus Locations:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for site liaisons where we offer camps and programs addressing operational needs and logistical concerns.
  • Communicate regularly with location managers to gather feedback and proactively address any issues related to camp operations.
  • Ensure all operational resources and support are effectively deployed to each site as needed.

Transportation & Logistics Coordination:

  • Coordinate trucking routes for the delivery and return of supplies to and from summer camp locations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external trucking companies ensuring the timely and secure transport of all goods.
  • Develop and manage transportation schedules and routes for maximum efficiency and to minimize disruptions to camp activities.
  • Troubleshoot and lead communications with external parties for any logistical issues that arise during transit and find swift resolutions.

Lunch Program & Vendor Management:

  • Serve as the primary liaison with catering vendors to ensure the daily lunch program runs smoothly and within budget.
  • Coordinate with caterers to confirm menus special dietary needs and delivery schedules.
  • Conduct regular quality checks to ensure the food and service provided by the vendor meet our camps standards for nutrition taste and quality.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise and communicate with the vendor to find swift resolutions.

Staffing & Leadership:

  • Supervise and lead the operations team.
  • Train and mentor staff to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Business Development:

  • Identify evaluate and pursue new opportunities for expansion of camps and classes including new locations partnerships and program offerings.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key community organizations schools and local businesses to promote the camp and secure new campers.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends competitive landscape and new opportunities for growth. Use data-driven insights to inform business development strategies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase camp enrollment and ancillary revenue streams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years professional work experience including proven experience in a similar operational or logistical role preferably within a camp school or multi-site environment.
  • Bachelors Degree or higher
  • Experience in business development or strategic growth roles is preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership communication and team management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex logistics and solve problems under pressure.
  • Experience with vendor and contract management and transportation and logistics coordination is highly desirable.
