About Harris County Flood Control District:

The Flood Control District has the mission to reduce the risk of flooding in Harris County the third most populated county in the United States with a population in excess of 4.7 million including the City of Houston the nations fourth largest city. The Flood Control District has jurisdiction over the primary stormwater facilities in the county which consist of approximately 1500 channels totaling nearly 2500 miles in length as well as more than 60 regional stormwater detention basins totaling more than 10000 acres and several wetlands mitigation banks including Greens bayou.


What you will do atHarris County Flood Control District:

The Harris County Flood Control District is searching for qualified candidates for the role of Talent Acquisition Specialist.

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for recruiting candidates for open positions and assisting management in recruitment programs; ensuring compliance with equal employment criteria FLSA standards and other state and federal laws related to recruitment.

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Processes job requisitions postings and candidate applications through application tracking system (ATS).
  • Collaborate with hiring departments to determine the best recruiting process.
  • Searches for qualified candidates to secure diverse and robust candidate pools including but not limited to online resources social media platforms professional organizations and other position-appropriate venues.
  • Networks through colleges universities association memberships trade groups community partners and job fairs to promote employment opportunities in Harris County.
  • Ensures compliance with equal employment criteria FLSA standards and other state and federal laws related to recruitment.
  • Evaluates finalists and manages the interview process; coaches and guides the selection committee to ensure compliance.
  • Attend division and department staff meetings.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required adapting to the Districts evolving demands responsibilities needs and objectives.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration Education or a related fieldfrom an accredited four-year college or university

Experience:
  • Three (3) years experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role
Licensure:
  • Valid Class C Texas Drivers License
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including professional writing grammar presentations and the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders including executives and subject matter experts.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills with the ability to interpret business needs and translate them into operational and financial requirements.
  • Solid understanding of financial accounting rules regulations and standards with the ability to interpret and communicate updates or changes as needed.
