Advancement Communications Intern
The Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement is seeking a highly motivated student intern to support communications and events that strengthen the Illinois College alumni and donor community.
This position is about 10 hours per week with opportunities for additional hours during special events (not required). The focus of the work and special projects can be tailored to your area of interest and professional growth. Internship credit is available if criteria is met and proper steps are taken with the College.
Responsibilities
As the communication intern you will assist with a variety of communications and event projects. Core responsibilities include:
- Event preparation and support (assembling needs and verifying contents preparing and organizing registration materials assisting with set up/tear down).
- Helping with mailings and other office needs.
- Supporting donor communications including email marketing social media planning and content creation review and editing copy interviews magazine and class notes support.
Additional tasks will be based on the students skills and interests with opportunities to learn from staff experienced in:
- Event management: planning logistics engagement strategies.
- Social media and digital engagement: creative ideas finding student volunteers and stories content planning analytics and strategy.
- Fundraising: donor stewardship data entry engagement.
- Graphic design: assist with basic creative design for digital and print.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new skills and take initiative must be dependable and able to meet deadlines.
- Interest in one or more of the following: event planning communications social media fundraising database management or design
Hours and Compensation
- 10 hours per week flexible Tuesdays and Thurdaysa plus.$15/hour
- Internship credit may be available if arranged through appropriate channels - Our staff can help determine if you are eligible working with other campus departments.
