Seminar in Interdisciplinary Study in the Arts
The themes will vary from year to year.

Yoga : Spirituality Philosophy Science & Practice. An examination of yoga from interdisciplinary perspectives including science spirituality philosophy and practice. Students will examine yogas roots in Hindu philosophy as well as engage with contemporary scholarship assessing yogas impact on mental physical and spiritual health. The course approaches yoga as both a scholarly subject and a personal practice.

Requirements:

Three positions are available for this course (team taught)

Preference will be given to instructors whose own research and/or professional interests fall within these areas and who have relevant scholarly research and publications and/or professional experience.

Position 1: Experience of successfully teaching university-level coursesin areas related to the historical philosophical aspects of yoga and its roots in Hindu philosophy. PhD required.

Position 2: Knowledge of the scientific principles underpinning yoga with a focus on physical health and wellness. Practical experience in yoga as a discipline including certification from a recognized yoga teaching institution is highly desirable.

Position 3: Experience in yoga therapy with an understanding of the psychological aspects of yoga practices. A certification in yoga therapy is preferred.
