ABOUT THE MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH/PEDIATRICS DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:
Patient Care Technician on the Inpatient General Pediatric Unit care for patients ages newborn to 23 years of age. POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Patient Care Technician in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the ED and their families.
Clinical services could include but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs bathing and feeding dressing wounds assisting with hygiene cleaning rooms and linens and emotional support.
Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe clean and appropriately equipped environment for patients visitors and staff in the ED.
Contribute to the efficient operation of the ED ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED certificate
Certification in basic life support (BLS) including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
Ability to pass clinical competency testing
Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
Basic math and computer proficiency
One of the following:
One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting
Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
Completed an approved patient care technician
Completed an approved patient care technician training
One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
Fluency in another language a plus
Previous medical/surgical experience preferred
