We are seeking a highly capable and self-directed Senior Mechanical Engineer to perform and manage design documentation and sustainment of mechanical systems supporting the development of small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) in a fast-paced prototyping environment. This role demands technical excellence in mechanical design a rigorous approach to documentation and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams while mentoring junior engineers.
- Develop 3D mechanical designs and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks in accordance with ASME Y14 standards.
- Create and manage engineering technical data packages (TDPs)in accordance with MIL-STD-31000B.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles for precise part definition and manufacturability.
- Support integration of mechanical systems with electrical and software subsystems including documentation of cable routing enclosures and mounting provisions.
- Lead andparticipate in project reviews and design meetings; contribute to presentation materials for internal and customer-facing briefings.
- Track individual project responsibilities proactivelymaintaining alignment with team and customer expectations.
- Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers providing guidance on mechanical design practices documentation and professional development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes including configuration management and use of SolidWorks PDM.
- Support prototype build integration and testing efforts in coordination with lab and field teams.
