What We Offer

This is a part time position which is expected to work between 4-10 hour per week and is not eligible for benefits. The pay range for this position $18.81 per hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denvers 457b retirement plan. Part time positions may have routine or variable work addition to class time instructors receive additional paid hours for planning set-up and break down time.

Location

In this position you can expect to work on site at Denver recreation centers parks and outdoor pool locations across the city.

What Youll Do

The Arts and Culture Team is looking for Assistant Art Instructors to support unique and fun youth art programs. Assistant Instructors can expect to assist the main Art instructor in teaching basic arts and crafts programs to preschool through elementary school-aged students .

As an Assistant Art Instructor you will:

  • Assist head instructor in instructing art classes for youth and/or adults

  • Assist with creating supply list for classes

  • Setup before and breakdown/cleanup after each class

  • Respond to class-specific inquiries from participants and community members

  • Collect and report feedback to the Arts and Culture Program Coordinators for future programming improvement

  • Complete other duties as assigned

Our Art Instructors must have a passion for and knowledge of arts and culture activities and should possess strong skills in communication and organization. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about connecting communities and fostering creativity.

Additionally our ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following:

  • Associate degree or higher in a creative arts field

  • Have taken classes in a creative arts field such as fine arts crafts drawing painting or a directly related field

  • Proficiency in one or more of the following arts & culture elements: pottery crafts visual art painting or drawing

  • Prior experience planning managing or coordinating creative arts programming

  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Bilingual skills preferred but not

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: None

  • Licensure/Certifications: Must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application; requires certification in CPR and First Aid within six (6) months of date of hire; licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of continued employment
