This position is eligible for a $5000 hiring incentive.
The Therapy Tech 2 works under general supervision of a certified/registered therapist and is responsible for a variety of activities. Duties involved include being an active participant with therapeutic treatment teams assists in planning and carrying out rehabilitative treatment programs for the mentally ill assist with and/or conducts therapy sessions with patients in accordance with individual treatment plans with specific methodologies and techniques observes and records an individuals response to therapy and alters approach to activities of individuals to better reach the goals as determined assists in the design and construction of adaptive assistive and supportive equipment for use of patients to improve motor functioning strengthen and support muscles and/or prevent malfunction or deformity interact personally on a face-to-face basis with patients in a helping role in accordance with goals and objectives of a therapeutic program instructs patients in special exercises to improve patients dexterity balance concentration or other significant physical or mental capability confers with other members of the treatment or therapy team in discussion and planning- determining courses of action in client care treatment or case determination participates in establishing and maintaining a safe orderly and therapeutic environment escorts patients to and from care units prepares materials and equipment for therapeutic activities consults with supervisor presenting and resolving difficult problems or questions discussing plans and actions to be taken; applies physical leather and metal restraints as necessary; confers with other practitioners and technical experts in own field of specialization in order to broaden knowledge acquire specific information and/or obtain advice or consultation participates in in-service training and staff development programs for regularly employed staff and perform related work as required.
Assisting in the planning and carrying out of rehabilitative treatment programs for assigned patients; confers with members of the treatment or therapy team to determine the course of action in patient care and treatment; conducts and supervises patient activities (individual or group) on assigned unit.
Observing and recording a patients response to therapy alters approach or activities when necessary to reach treatment goals and individual need.
Interacting on a face-to-face basis with patients in supportive/helping role in accordance with goals and objectives of therapeutic program.
Instructs patients in special exercises to improve patients dexterity balance concentration or other physical or mental capability.
Participating in establishing and maintaining a safe orderly and therapeutic environment; escorts patients to and from care units of the hospital; prepares materials and equipment for assigned/designated treatment plan activities.
May be required to drive up to a 12-passenger van & complete the hospital van safety training program.
Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
Knowledge of:
Fundamentals of rehabilitation therapeutic treatment and application of mental health principles and techniques involved in treatment.
Therapeutic practices and techniques of group and individual activities used in therapy
Modification techniques to adapt to individual situations.
Established hospital policies and procedures and established JACHO individual assessment standards.
Performance Management (PM) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships i.e. patients co-workers and patients families etc.
Interpreting activities and analyzing situations accurately and initiating effective action/measures.
Motivate patients as deemed appropriate by Individual Treatment Plans.
Maintain sensitivity objectivity and flexibility under pressure associated with mentally/emotionally ill patients.
Communicate verbally and in writing.
Interpret therapeutic activities to patients and appropriate others.

2 years of experience in healthcare field preferred.
Preference given to candidates with a COTA/L certification. Special consideration will be given to a candidate that is a certified lifeguard.
Must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issues pursuant to A.R.S.41-1758.07 or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within seven working days after beginning employment.
