Job Summary

The Intensive Behavior Center (IBC) is an intensive short-term treatment facility for individuals who have intellectual disabilities and co-occurring mental illnesses. IBC provides an environment for building healthy effective and fulfilling lives so those receiving treatment can live successfully in the community after discharge.

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the IBC buildings in a clean and orderly condition that includes duties such as:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting restrooms living quarters offices conference rooms common areas and dining facilities.
  • Restocking supplies and maintaining inventory of paper products and cleaning supplies.
  • Checking building areas for safety hazards such as broken glass biohazards etc. and disposes appropriately.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (Behaviors):

  • General knowledge of janitorial procedures and operating various pieces of cleaning equipment such as a high-speed buffer vacuum and carpet and upholstery machines.
  • Skills in proper cleaning techniques and working with hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to protect clients rights and confidentiality.
  • Ability to be comfortable working around developmentally disabled and security risk patients.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience)

  • There is no minimum education requirement
  • One year janitorial or housekeeping experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
