Job Description
Role Overview
Reporting to the Director Assurance and Management Systems the Manager Sustainability Reporting is responsible for leading Tecks annual sustainability reporting and engagement with ESG rating and ranking agencies.
The successful candidate will lead the development and execution of reporting processes to ensure accurate timely and strategic disclosure of Tecks performance key issues and sustainability strategy. This includes maintaining and updating the multi-year sustainability reporting roadmap ensuring alignment with global reporting standards and stakeholder expectations supervising emerging regulations and leading the double materiality assessment process to advise Tecks sustainability strategy and enterprise risk management.
The Manager will demonstrate exceptional project management capabilities deep expertise in sustainability reporting standards and strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills. They will collaborate efficiently with contributors and reviewers across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader and adhere to and champion the Teck Way in the application of safety social and environmental best practices in line with Tecks rules and procedures
- Lead the end-to-end production of Tecks annual Sustainability Report including planning stakeholder engagement training tracking and delivery
- Oversee the external report assurance process including logistics provider coordination and internal collaboration
- Lead the Spanish Sustainability Reporting Suite and website updates in both English and Spanish
- Perform double materiality assessments including planning consultant and internal engagement impacts risks and opportunities (IRO) analysis and integration with enterprise risk management and corporate strategy
- Develop and supervise the annual Sustainability Reporting and ESG Improvement Plan aligned with senior leadership expectations and regulatory requirements
- Supervise and respond to evolving sustainability disclosure regulations and standards (e.g. CSDS ISSB) ensuring Teck remains proactive and compliant
- Lead responses to ESG rating/ranking agencies (e.g. S&P Global MSCI Sustainalytics ISS)
- Collaborate with Investor Relations to strengthen Tecks ESG reputation
- Participate in industry groups (such as ICMM and WEF)
- Be responsible for annual data collection and quality improvement coordinating with cross-functional teams
- Develop and maintain Tecks Sustainability Reporting standard procedures and supporting guidelines to ensure robust and transparent disclosure practices
- Define and lead reporting boundaries and KPIs to support consistent performance tracking and comparability
- Enhance data infrastructure reporting systems and tools to support accuracy efficiency and adaptability to evolving business and regulatory requirements
- Lead continuous improvement of reporting outputs and internal procedures through structured debriefs benchmarking and performance reviews
- Conduct quality reviews to ensure consistency accuracy and high standards across all sustainability reporting outputs
- Lead sustainability reporting improvements by closing disclosure gaps in collaboration with subject matter experts
- Implement proactive risk management practices identifying potential challenges and developing mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery
- Lead the Sustainability Reporting teams budget including tracking approvals and vendor payments
Qualifications
- University degree related to the field of sustainable development or equivalent experience with 8 to 12 years work experience
- Experience developing programs and strategies delivering projects and leading resources effectively
- Strong understanding of global sustainability reporting standards and regulatory landscapes
- Outstanding project management communication and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to prioritize and deliver
- Possesses knowledge of sustainability issues preferably in the resource development industry
- Proficiency in Spanish with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical skills with the ability to understand and recognize trends in data in the areas of environment social and governance
- Passionate about achieving results and continuously improving with outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Experience in producing Sustainability Reports for large complex organizations is an asset
