The Printing Equipment Operator I is responsible for operating and maintaining printing and fulfillment systems used in producing and distributing high-volume print materials for clients and county DSS offices. This role ensures proper handling of print jobs maintains print quality and assists in job verification and reprints as needed. Work is performed under the supervision of IT Operations Technicians in the DHHS IT Printing Operations Section.
This position supports the accuracy and timeliness of mass document processing contributing to DHHSs essential communication with service recipients vendors and partners. The role is part of the larger DHHS IT Division which ensures operational continuity for health and human services programs through reliable information systems.
Operate Pitney Bowes inserters and Baum folders to fulfill scheduled print jobs.
Conduct quality checks to ensure print accuracy and isolate defective output for reprocessing.
Schedule workloads in coordination with management to meet production goals.
Perform equipment setup basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance tasks.
Monitor inventory and restock materials such as envelopes and paper stock.
Merge and sort reports destined for county DSS offices and external recipients.
Support printing and inserting operations across multiple shifts as needed.
Coordinate job flow to meet overlapping agency deadlines and priorities.
Work closely with supervisors and peers to ensure accurate completion of work orders.
Provide support in document management activities tied to DHHS benefit programs.

Applicants that possess the following skills are preferred: Demonstrated experience operating Pitney Bowes FPS 9 or Rival Inserters in a high-volume print-to-mail environment. Documented experience using folder and mail fulfillment systems such as Baum folders for multi-document jobs. Proven experience in coordinating print production workloads to meet multiple agency deadlines and SLAs. Demonstrated experience in quality control processes for printed material such as identifying defects and initiating reprints. Documented experience performing maintenance on commercial-grade fulfillment equipment.
