Job Summary

POSITION: Dean of Students

REPORTS TO: Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month Position

SALARY GRADE: 56-TA

NATURE OF WORK

To enforce and apply the Board of Education Policies and school guidelines regarding the maintenance of discipline attendance and academic goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services designed to support academic achievement social and emotional development.
  2. Serves as a resource for building staff administrators and parents in addressing and finding solutions to student needs.
  3. Leads the development of Positive Behavior Support (PBIS) and the development of intervention strategies.
  4. Coordinates facilitates and implements disciplinary and academic intervention steps including PBIS and MTSS.
  5. Facilitates whole group and small group counseling sessions aimed at teaching students coping strategies to deal with aggression anger and grief.
  6. Confers with students and parents on security matters.
  7. Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with campus control and security.
  8. Establishes maintains and enhances effective communication with administrators teachers parents community and other identified stakeholders.
  9. Makes recommendations for appropriate revisions of and assists in the interpretation of programs policies and procedures affecting students lives in school.
  10. Collaborates with the administrative team counselor social worker staff students and parents in establishing a positive climate.
  11. Performs other duties related to the improvement of student achievement as determined by the principal.
  12. Additionally this role will also require applicants to obtain their CDL bus license to drive a school bus on an as needed basis for the school site.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2 or 4 year degree in any area/OR
  • Completion of 96 Community College/University contact hours and an acceptable score on college placement tests in reading writing and math.

  • Ability to interpret and administer board policy administrative procedures and State Law.
  • Ability to write and communicate effectively.
  • Proficient in the use of technology.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is continuously interacting with the public staff and students. The employee is required to walk; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls. Occasionally the employee must use hand/grip strength to operate office equipment.

Performance in this position will be evaluated regularly by the supervisor in accordance with Board Policy.
