Your role will focus on the development deployment and maintenance of the backend side of our web stack including our cloud infrastructure and easy to use UI. You will work closely with the front end developers and robotic engineers to provide a smooth experience for the end-user. You will get a deep dive into our robotic software stack so that you can have a clear understanding and also contribute to some parts of it. We expect you to assist in the deployment to customers facilities troubleshoot technical issues and ensure smooth operation.
What youll be doing
- Develop our API: Create and maintain the API layer using and TypeScript. This gateway is the single entry point for our entire platform.
- Bridge Frontend and Backend: Serve as the crucial link between our React-based frontend and our core backend services (written in Python/C).
- Handle deployments: Figure out the best way to get our code running reliably in hundreds of deployments globally both in the cloud on Vercel/GCP and on the actual robots using Docker.
- Improve our DevOps: Help us automate our testing and deployment pipelines (CI/CD). We want to ship code without drama.
- Replace old code: Youll help us identify parts of the old system to replace and youll build the new better versions.
Must have
- At least 2-3 years of professional experience as a software engineer.
- Solid professional experience building backend systems using TypeScript and/or Python.
- Familiarity with serverless architecture. Its a plus if youve worked with Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS) platforms and event driven architecture.
- Experience building the API layer(s) that a web application consumes connecting the frontend to various data sources or other backend services.
- Experience deploying applications to both cloud providers (Vercel GCP) and into Docker/Podman containers.
- Genuinely enjoy automating processes and believe in solid CI/CD practices.
- Like taking ownership of a problem and seeing it through from the first line of code to production.
Bonus to have
It would be great but not a deal-breaker if you have:
- A keen interest in robotics IoT or how factories work.
- Experience with fleet management tools like Balena Qbee and/or Toradex (TorizonOs)
- Experience with FastAPI
