Responsibilities
In keeping with French Hospital Medical Centers health care philosophy the Nursing Assistant/Unit Clerk provides care for adult patients and serves as a unit receptionist. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse as the Nursing Assistant she/he participates in supporting patients activities of daily living which includes but is not limited to bathing turning ambulation transporting feeding communicating with and providing excellent patient care and service. As the Unit Clerk she/he provides/displays excellent communication ability with patient families patients visitors all hospital employees and persons whom they encounter. She/he serves as a unit receptionist and welcomes visitors pleasantly directs them coordinates phone communications orders and monitors clerical supplies/inventory and forms and cleans work areas. The Nursing Assistant/Unit Clerk reports observations regarding patient status to the registered nurse. Employees are responsible for completion of unit competency assessments annual safety review CPR and renewal of certifications (when applicable) by maintaining continuing education units as required by hospital addition to listed major responsibilities the Nurse Assistant/Unit Clerk may be assigned other duties.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirement:
- Acute care experience within the last two years.
- Nurse assistants/unit clerks without acute care experience within the last two years will be considered on an individual basis.
- Completion of education for a certified nursing assistant
- Completion of education to become a unit clerk or equivalent work experience
- Current CPR-AHA Certification
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
Special Skills:
- Effective oral and written communication in English clearly concisely and accurately.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers/staff.
- Ability to operate common office equipment including computers.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic procedures.
- Relates to patients/visitors empathetically and tactfully.
- Demonstrates a caring compassionate attitude toward others.
- Reacts calmly and efficiently in emergency situations.
- Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
